INDIANA—(ENEWSPF)—August 14, 2011.  The main stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Saturday night as the crowd waited for the country band, Sugarland to take the stage.  At least five people have died and at least 48 were injured.

The stage collapsed just moments after an announcement was made warning of an advancing storm and giving instructions on what to do in the event of an evacuation.

During a news conference, Indiana State Police First Sergeant Dave Bursten reported that the State Fair will be closed on Sunday.  According to the fair’s website, the fair will resume on Monday, August 15.

Sugarland ‘s Facebook page reads, “We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you will join us. They need your strength.”
