Andy McKenna Takes GOP Nod in Rich and Bloom Townships


Cook County, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Andy McKenna prevailed in Bloom and Rich Townships in the G.O.P. primary Tuesday, capturing 616 votes, or 26.29% of the vote in Bloom, and 496 votes, or 27.4% of the vote in Rich.

Matt Murphy took the top of the ticket in Rich Township with 42.57% of the vote and 43.78% of the vote in Bloom. In the race for Comptroller, Judy Baar Topinka won handily in Bloom Township with 61.54% of the vote and 62.39% of the vote in Rich.

In the race for the G.O.P. nomination for Cook County Board President, Roger Keats took 62.09% of the vote in Rich Township and 62.36% of the vote in Bloom.

There was only one name on the G.O.P. ballot in the races for Attorney General, Secretary of State and Treasurer.

According to the Cook County Clerk’s office, results may change due to provisional and late-arriving absentee ballots. Absentee ballots postmarked by midnight on Feb. 1 will be added to the results if they arrive within two weeks of the election. About 800 provisional ballots will be individually checked and, if validated, added to the tally.

By law, every Illinois election jurisdiction must certify its results to the State Board of Elections by Feb. 23. For information about Chicago results, please visit chicagoelections.com.
