PFHS Presents, ‘The Story of a Japanese War-Bride in a GI Town.’

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- On Sunday November 10, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. the Park Forest Historical Society will present the program,  "The Story of a Japanese War-Bride in a GI Town: The Life of Chieko Rosenbery."

Chieko came to Park Forest in 1956 as the bride of former serviceman, Joseph Burton Rosenbery.  They met while he was on active duty in Japan after the Korean war and married in 1954. Linda Rosenbery Wingrove will speak on Chieko’s life in war-time and post-war Japan, and her life in Park Forest.

The stories are based on Ms. Wingrove’s forthcoming book about her mother. This program represents another side of the society’s World War II Veterans Series, "Up Front and at Home." The program will be held in Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, in Park Forest.  PFHS programs are free and open to the general public.
