Representative Schakowsky Statement on Politicization of Libya Attack

WASHINGTON, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–October 22, 2012 – Today, Rep. Schakowsky (D-Ill.) released the following statement in response to reports that Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released sensitive information on the Libya attack that may put lives at risk:

“As a member of the Intelligence Committee, I am extremely concerned that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee under the direction of Chairman Darrell Issa released documents that could endanger the lives of Libyans cooperating with U.S. officials.

The attack in Libya must be investigated thoroughly and its perpetrators brought to justice. Our national foreign policy interests and the loss of American lives should be above partisanship, yet Republicans continue to play politics with this tragedy. The recent release of the identities of Libyan nationals who have cooperated with Americans is the height of irresponsibility, an unacceptable action that puts our allies and interests at risk.”
