Burglary Discovered at Amara for Chicago Headquarters

CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—November 18, 2014. The Amara for Chicago campaign is working closely with the Chicago Police Department on a burglary reported at the campaign headquarters at 30 E 69th Street this past weekend.

Early on Saturday, November 15 staffers arrived at the office where they discovered significant vandalism and building damage totaling several thousand dollars. Appliances and office equipment were missing and some campaign materials damaged. The police were notified immediately and a report has been filed.

“It’s not necessarily the fact that it was our office that was damaged,” 2015 Mayoral Candidate Dr. Amara Enyia said. “This just underscores why we’re pushing for change in this city because this could have been any other business owner or homeowner. We’re disappointed that this happened but not discouraged. We’ve got our eye on the goal of getting on the ballot and moving forward with the hard work of our dedicated campaign team.”

The campaign headquarters will be closed while repairs are done to the building. In the meantime, the campaign requests that all volunteers with outstanding petitions return petitions at the following times:

Tuesday Nov. 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Broadway St and Lawrence St

Wednesday, Nov 19 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 6451 W. Diversey (Brickyard Mall next to Jimmy John’s)

Thursday, Nov. 20th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Starbucks on 4753 N. Broadway and at the Starbucks on 1174 E. 55th
