After Making Millions Off Illinois Taxpayers with the Help of Now-Convicted Political-Fixer Stu Levine, Rauner Says He Doesn’t Need a Government Salary
Chicago, IL—(ENEWSPF)—June 12, 2014. At a news conference today, Bruce Rauner said he would not accept a salary if elected Governor, falsely suggesting it would be a key piece of solving Illinois’ budget woes.
“Perhaps he feels guilty for all the money he’s already taken from Illinois taxpayers with the help of Blagojevich crony Stu Levine,” said Neal Waltmire, Communcations Director of Illinois Freedom PAC. “This unoriginal gimmick doesn’t erase Rauner’s business record, which is one of repeated taxpayer abuse.”
Rauner has made millions of dollars through companies that have bribed public officials; were sanctioned for allegedly overbilling taxpayers; and failed to provide contracted services to the public, often for elderly or disabled citizens.
“Rauner personally profited from taxpayer abuse. With a record like that, there’s no way Illinois voters should trust him to control their tax money,” said Waltmire.
