Park Forest Police Report for April 6, 2009


Police were dispatched to a residence in the first block of Apache Street on March 27 to investigate a report of motor vehicle theft. There were no arrests. Police continue to investigate.

Deon A. Robinson, 19, 407 Westgate Dr., Park Forest, was arrested on March 28 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol in the area of Wildwood Street and Wilshire Street observed the subject emerging from the yard of a residence during a rainstorm, dressed all in dark clothing. According to police, the officer’s attention was brought to this area due to the recent high volume of criminal activity.

David D. Scott, 19, 119 Well St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 28 and charged with possession of cannabis and issued a municipal citation charging failure to wear a seatbelt when detectives traveling eastbound on Wildwood Drive approaching Westwood Drive observed Scott allegedly driving in a car in front of them without wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

A PlayStation 3 game system valued at $500 and two PlayStation 3 games valued at $120 were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Michael Road on March 29. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

Darryl B. Staples, 41, 207 Gold St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 29 and charged with violation of an order of protection when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of theft.

Chiedu H. Nwaokai, 21, 3442 S. Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on March 30 and charged with disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to a residence in the 3400 block of South Western Avenue to investigate a report of a neighbor dispute. According to police, a neighbor reported sitting inside her home when she heard the noise of her metal garbage can being moved on her front porch. Nwaokai then picked up the trash can and allegedly threw it against the neighbor’s door. Nwaokai then allegedly brought the trash can into his home, then returned, took a mobile trash can, banged it against the neighbor’s door, and then threw it out toward the parking lot, according to police. Nwaokai then allegedly picked up a mop and began beating on the neighbor’s door and windows, according to police. Police say Nwaokai verbally admitted to banging on the neighbor’s door, but was unable to explain why he did it.

Craig Johnson, 44, 40 Monee Rd., Park Forest, was arrested on March 30 and charged with criminal trespass to property when police were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy, 1 Main Street, to investigate a report of a subject trespassing. Johnson allegedly told police that he had been arrested by the Park Forest Police Department within the past two months on a charge of retail theft at CVS Pharmacy and had been told he was not allowed in the store, according to police.

Quartez D. Evans, 23, 2848 Bending Creek Trail, Crete, was arrested on March 30 and charged with possession of cannabis and speeding over the posted speed limit when an officer patrolling in the area of Western Avenue and Cedar Street observed the vehicle Evans was driving traveling southbound on Western Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to police.

Terrance D. Sims, 27, 11832 S. Watkins Ave., Chicago, was arrested on March 30 and charged with criminal trespass to residence when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Sangamon Street to investigate a report of criminal trespass to residence.

A juvenile was arrested on March 31 and charged with criminal trespass to property, battery and resisting a peace officer when police were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive to investigate a report of a disturbance. The juvenile allegedly confronted the officer and a store employee in front of the business, running away when the officer attempted to place him in handcuffs, according to police. The officer pursued the juvenile, deploying his Taser, striking the juvenile in the upper back, according to police. The juvenile was then taken into custody and transported to the Park Forest Police Department.

Two silver Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computers valued at $3500, a Nintendo Wii game system with three controllers valued at $300, and five Nintendo Wii games valued at $100 were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Indianwood Boulevard on March 31.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Indiana Street on March 31 to investigate a report of a disturbance. There were no arrests.

Christopher D. Knaak, 37, 358 Miami St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 31 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of South Orchard Drive to investigate a report of domestic battery.

A Toshiba laptop computer valued at $1200, a Dell laptop computer valued at $1200, a Nintendo Wii game system valued at $450, and five Nintendo Wii games valued at $300 were reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive on March 31.

An Alpine in-dash stereo/CD player and portable TV valued at $1100 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Birch Street on April 1.

A 47 inch Sony flat screen television valued at $2500 and an Xbox 360 game system valued at $178 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on April 1.

Charles A. Wallace, 22, 3831 Janice Dr., Richton Park, was arrested on April 1 and charged with possession of cannabis when the vehicle he was driving in allegedly failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign at Wilshire Street and Central Park Avenue, according to police. Wallace was also issued a citation charging disobeying a stop sign.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Thomas Street to investigate a complaint of a broken window to the residence. There were no arrests. Police continue to investigate.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Elm Street on April 3 to investigate a report of trespass to vehicle. A resident reported receiving harassment from his ex-wife by telephone and with handwritten notes left on and inside the car he drives. Police continue to investigate.

Four teenagers, two 14-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, were arrested and issued municipal citations charging disorderly conduct when police responded to Rich East High School on April 3 to investigate a report of a disturbance. All four of the students had been involved in a physical fight, according to police.

Oskari L. Calhoun, 30, 1316 Lincoln Ave., Chicago Heights, was arrested on April 3 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Sioux Street to investigate a report of domestic battery.

A juvenile was arrested on April 3 and his case forwarded to the Juvenile Division for possible petitioning to Juvenile court when an officer traveling westbound on Indiana Street passing Berry Street observed the juvenile walking eastbound on Indiana Street carrying a UPS package. The juvenile appeared to be attempting to open the package, according to police. Due to the number of recent residential burglaries in the area, the officer conducted an investigatory street stop, according to police. The juvenile allegedly told police that he took the package because he believed it could be a cell phone or video games, according to police.

A silver 2006 Toyota Corolla, Illinois registration X441000, was reported stolen from a parking lot in the first block of North Arbor Trail on April 4.

Jose Oliver, 17, 9 Apple Lane, Park Forest, was arrested on April 4 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of a domestic dispute. Oliver was also charged with battery to a Park Forest Police Officer. According to police, Oliver was extremely hostile and, upon exiting the squad car at the police station, extended his head backwards and allegedly “head-butted” Officer Sweitzer in the forehead, according to police.
