WASHINGTON, DC –(ENEWSPF)—November 18, 2016. The largest progressive group of veterans in America today is responding to the selection of Mike Pompeo to lead the Central Intelligence Agency.
In a statement, Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org said:
“Mike Pompeo said that Muslims who do not issue statements condemning every terror attack are ‘potentially complicit’ in terror attacks. That mindset is horribly wrong when it comes to views of civil rights and civil liberties of Muslim Americans. Statements like those also further propaganda of radical terrorists, who, right now, are celebrating the election of Donald Trump, because they believe it will bring about a war of religions. This puts us all in extreme danger, but especially our troops, serving overseas.
If Mike Pompeo believes that Muslims who do not issue statements on terror attacks are ‘potentially complicit,’ then as CIA director, we can be assured that he will spy on those people, who are innocent, in violation of their Constitutional rights.
This administration is turning out to be as scary, bigoted, and abnormal as most people feared. We call on all lawmakers, and the media, to stop normalizing the trajectory we are now on. It is un-American, and it makes us infinitely less safe.”
