“Where have you been?” you may have asked.
eNews Park Forest took an unexpected hiatus from regular weekly emails and police reports when we had a laptop experience the infamous “Blue Screen of Death” (BSOD) while I was on vacation in mid-July.
Rosemary Piser, our Associate Editor, kept the publication more than alive by publishing every day and self-publishing her weekly column, In And Around Park Forest (most recent here). She writes her column faithfully from a secure, undisclosed location, and I recommend you read her column each and every week.
Without exception, Rosemary’s column includes more information on events “in and around Park Forest” than any other publication in the area, or beyond.
I apologize for the unexpected hiatus. My laptop was more dead than I’ve ever seen a computer. I was not about to spend each and every day of my vacation trying to breathe life into my poor machine. However, after a week I was able to boot the machine to “Safe Mode” with networking and get back online for limited work. However, was not about to write anything on ENEWSPF and let the world know I was out of town.
In the interim, Rosemary kept publishing and publishing and publishing.

I was hungry to write commentary. Donald Trump? You’re kidding, right? That was too easy. Ted Cruz? Please.
President Obama? There was so much to say there. Iran. Say no more. After decades of no movement and threats, finally an agreement to keep nuclear weaponry out of the hands of the Iranians. Do any of the critics of the deal remember the damage we did to that country? Remember the Shah? Of Iran? Remember who put him in place?
Does anyone recall the last deal with Iran, engineered by then-presidential candidate Ronald Reagan, to keep the hostages in captivity until after the 1980 presidential election took place? As President Bani-Sadr, President of Iran until he was deposed in June 1981, told the Christian Science Monitor, “The fact that [the hostages] were not released tipped the results of the [1980] election in Reagan’s favor.”
In return? Arms sold to Iran, and the proceeds used to finance the Nicaraguan contras.
A deal made by a United States presidential candidate, Ronald Reagan, with the Ayatollah Khomeini.
Treason.
And President Obama was front and center working out a deal, in process for years, to not trust but to verify that Iran does not pursue a nuclear weapons program.
The United Nations Security Council voted 15-0 recently to support the deal.
The GOP in America has no alternative, once again trying to lead from behind as President Obama forges ahead with a viable proposal, an agreement, between the world and Iran.
And all of this happened while my laptop struggled to boot to Safety Mode.
Today’s column affords me an opportunity to make up for some of that.
