Lions Club Offers 2007 Recap

lion-logo-4.gifPark Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—The Park Forest Lions in the year 2007 sent 30 people to Lens Crafters for eye exams and glasses (six children and 24 senior citizens).   In addition, the Park Forest Lions bought assistive devices from the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, for a Park Forest Resident.  This resident and his wife have since become members of the Park Forest Lions Club.

In October the club had its annual Candy Day which provided funds to help our Park Forest residents receive glasses and hearing aids.

In September 2007, the Park Forest Lions Club had a fund raiser "Garage Sale" along with the Glenwood Lions’ Rib Fest in Glenwood on 183rd and Halsted.  This was the biggest sale we have ever had.

We recycle for sight!  There are collection boxes in the US Bank, Senior Center, and the Village Hall.  Please bring in your old eye glasses, cell phones and ink cartridges (if they fit in your hand).  The eyeglasses are sent to our Illinois Foundation to be cleaned and refracted and sent on missions to third world countries.  The cell phones and ink cartridges are recycled for cash to our club.

On December 30th the club was invited by our President, Lion Jim Hopper to help out at his church to set up and serve dinner to the homeless.  After dinner the homeless were provided mats to sleep on for the night to stay out of the cold.  Many members of the Lions Club helped.

The Lions Club is always looking for volunteers to join in fun and friendship to help those in need in our community.  The club meets at the University Golf Club on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm.  Anyone with questions is asked to call Lion Jim Hopper, President at 708-715-6412.

"We want to listen to our community, learn it’s needs and as Lions, provide the service.  Our Motto is WE SERVE."

LIONS SERVING THE WORLD, ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME.
