Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–August 15, 2016. Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) announced $805,000 in federal funding to help the Elk Grove Village-based American Academy of Pediatrics improve awareness and access to care for children with epilepsy in America. The funding is expected to be used to help provide children and youth with epilepsy sustainable, coordinated and comprehensive quality care.
“As a mother, I know how important medical access is for maintaining the health of our children,” said Congresswoman Duckworth. “I’m pleased this funding will help the American Academy of Pediatrics continue to serve the needs of our Eighth District community.”
This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration as part of their national initiative to improve access to epilepsy care for children and youth across the country, including in rural or medically underserved areas.
