Qualified students and recent college graduates competed for summer adventure of a lifetime with Sierra Club’s youth outings programs around the country
SAN FRANCISCO–(ENEWSPF)–May 1, 2012. The Sierra Club, the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, is thrilled to announce the 2012 Outdoor Youth Ambassador for the 3rd annual Best Internship on Earth. Competition was tough this year, but Joaquin Sosa was an extraordinary candidate with his enthusiasm for the outdoors and creative approach to storytelling.
Joaquin recently completed his third year at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he’s studying digital media and photography. A self-described wilderness enthusiast, Joaquin is eager to explore all the wild places our country has to offer and share his journey through video blogging.
The Best Internship on Earth is an annual summer program uniting young adults with a passion for the environment with community outreach programs that focus on outdoor experiences. The Outdoor Youth Ambassador will travel around the country with Sierra Club’s Mission Outdoors programs, including Inner City Outings, Military Families and Veterans Initiative, Local Outings and Volunteer Vacations, and document these experiences for the Sierra Club and The North Face.
When not rafting down the American River or hiking in the San Jacinto Mountains, the Outdoor Youth Ambassador will work with Sierra Club Productions in San Francisco, CA to review, cut and edit video blogs, chronicling their journey and promoting an appreciation of nature through outdoor education and adventure.
In addition to a generous stipend and all-expenses paid travel, the Outdoor Youth Ambassador also receives $2,000 worth of merchandise provided by The North Face, a hallmark brand for outdoor gear, apparel and footwear.
