Happening on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 23:32:54 UTC, 6:32:54 PM (CDT) – Central Daylight (Chicago), the epicenter was at coordinates 37.124°N, 142.435°E, 137 km (85 miles) E of Iwaki, Honshu, Japan; 184 km (114 miles) E of Koriyama, Honshu, Japan; 185 km (114 miles) SE of Sendai, Honshu, Japan; and 288 km (178 miles) NE of TOKYO, Japan.
There have been no reports that the quake was felt on land. There are no tsunami warnings, watches or advisories in effect.
