Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)-March 14, 2017. Come celebrate the woods with music at Thorn Creek Nature Center Woods Music songfest, Friday, March 17 at 7 p.m. featuring Phil Cooper and Susan Urban of February Sky, bassists Chris Kondrath and Julian Pat Romane, plus Ingrid Krizan on cello.
Phil Cooper is well known for his beautiful arrangements of traditional ballads and tunes. His exceptional guitar playing provides the perfect melodic setting for each song this band performs. Susan Urban, a well-respected song writer, provides both lead and harmony vocals as well as solid rhythm guitar back-up.
Ingrid Krizan is a Thorn Creek naturalist by day and concert cellist by night, who weaves nature narratives into musical renditions fitting to the season. Her offerings strive to underline the relevant connections between life, nature, and human-conceived art music.
On acoustic and upright basses, Christopher Kondrath and Julian Pat Romane provide their unique blend of improv tunes. Christopher formerly played with “The Flock” and served as sideman for the legendary Elmo James, among others. Julian, Professor of DoubleBass at Bradley University and freelancer in many regional professional orchestras, feels equally at home playing Rush or Rachmaninoff.
With the generous donation of the musicians’ time and expertise all proceeds will benefit Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve. Woods Music tickets are on sale now! Cost is $10. Program is for those older than 12 years. Seating is limited and it is recommended that you purchase your tickets in advance.
