Prairie State College (PSC) is celebrating 50 years of the Dental Hygiene Program during a special reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Alumni and supporters of the program are welcome to join in the celebration. RSVP is requested at https://f8s.co/1vcy.

The reception will be held in the Health Tech Center of the main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights, located on the north side of Vollmer Rd. Light refreshments will follow a short presentation about the history of the program. Representatives from the first graduating classes will recount their experiences of the early days of the program and reflect on how much has changed over the years. Attendees also will get the opportunity to take student-led tours of the current Dental Hygiene Clinic.

“The Dental Hygiene Program has been an integral part of the college’s history. There are so many practicing hygienists throughout the state that started at PSC,” said PSC President Dr. Terri L. Winfree. “I am looking forward to welcoming them home to PSC to congratulate and thank them for the positive way they represent PSC in our communities.”

Generous sponsors of the event include Proctor & Gamble, GC America and Crown Seating. The event also is presented in conjunction with the Alumni Committee of the PSC Foundation.

The Dental Hygiene Program at PSC is a career program leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree. The program prepares graduates to provide services that assist patients in the prevention of oral diseases and maintenance of optimal oral health. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the American Dental Association and meets State of Illinois Board of Dentistry guidelines for the dental hygiene education.
