Manufacturing Day to be Hosted at Prairie State College on October 5


CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–September 26, 2016. Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting Manufacturing Day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Atrium on the college’s main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It officially occurs on the first Friday in October.

The morning opens with a job fair from 9 a.m. to noon, where PSC students and community members can meet with employers about job opportunities in the manufacturing fields. There are currently more than 1500 manufacturing jobs available in the Chicago Southland area. To register for the job fair, visit prairiestate.edu/jobfair.

Additionally, regional high school students will tour local manufacturing companies. High school students will culminate at PSC with an afternoon tour of the manufacturing labs on campus and experience demonstrations and see products made from manufacturing equipment, as well as learn about the training and education opportunities offered at PSC.

The free event is being offered in partnership with PSC, South Suburban College, OAI, Inc., Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation, Bloom Township High School, Bloom Trail High School, Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Rich East High School, Rich South High School, Rich Central High School, Crete-Monee High School, Marian Catholic High School, Glenwood Academy, Career Preparation Network, National Able Network, and Illinois  Manufacturing Excellence Center, and is made possible by DOL TAACCCT Funds.
