Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–October 28, 2016.  On the evening of October 27, 2016 around 6 pm, a woman was confronted by a man armed with a knife who entered through the unlocked back door of her home in the West Lincolnwood neighborhood. The man tied up and battered the victim and stole items before leaving the residence. The suspect is described as a black male, but further description is not available. Due to the seriousness of this incident, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit was requested to assist with crime scene processing.

This incident shares similarities with another incident that occurred in a multi-family housing neighborhood in Park Forest located south of Sauk Trail in early October, as well as reports of a similar incident in an adjoining community.

Due to the sensitive nature of these on-going investigations, more details are not being released at this time, however the Park Forest Police Department feels it is vital to make the community aware of these incidents and urges extra vigilance, including ensuring doors and windows are locked at night and that attention is paid to one’s surroundings. The Park Forest Police Department Investigations Unit is actively investigating these incidents, and patrol officers are increasing patrols.

The Park Forest Police Department urges all members of the public to always promptly report suspicious persons or activity so that we may respond and investigate. The Park Forest Police Department is committed to solving these incidents and ensuring that the Village of Park Forest remains a safe, friendly community.
