CHICAGO, IL—(ENEWSPF)–June 27, 2017 – On Tuesday, June 27, at 6:00 p.m., Chicagoans will gather in Daley Plaza, 50 West Washington Street in downtown Chicago, to hold a vigil for those who have been lost to health care neglect in the United States, and for those who will be lost if Trumpcare passes.

Within the next week, 22 million people could lose their health care. Even with the Affordable Care Act in place, there are people suffering, dying and crowdfunding for their lives, for lack of health care. The disabled, the chronically ill, the impoverished and the criminalized are already without adequate care and services, and under Trumpcare, conditions will deteriorate for many.

This bill is a form of state violence, and we are committed to creating a space where community members can connect, hear each other’s stories, and get informed about the levels of action they can take to defend themselves and their communities from this harm.

Medicaid must be defended, as must the lives of the chronically ill and disabled. Members of Black Live Matters – Chicago, Lifted Voices, the Gay Liberation Network and other groups will discuss tactics for resisting Trumpcare and the moral necessity of Medicare for all.

This event is being organized by the Lifted Voices collective and other co-strugglers.
