Annual Prairie State College Foundation Special Event Benefits Student Scholarships

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–February 21, 2017. Each year, hundreds of Prairie State College (PSC) students turn to the Foundation for assistance paying for tuition and textbooks. To help meet these needs, the PSC Foundation hosts an annual special event to raise money for scholarships through donations, dinner reservations, and a silent auction.

The 2017 event is scheduled at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at the Olympia Fields Country Club, located at 2800 Country Club Drive in Olympia Fields. The theme is ‘Set Sail for Scholarships,’ and begins with cocktails and a ‘Captain’s Dinner,’ followed by entertainment, including a piano lounge, casino, and more.

All proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships at PSC. Special “Spotlight Scholars” will be recognized during the annual “Stand Up for Scholarships” presentation. This year, the Foundation also is bidding a special ‘bon voyage’ to Dottie Bauer, who is stepping down from the Foundation board after more than 20 years of service.

“Each year, this annual event gives us the opportunity to better assist the students of Prairie State College,” said Foundation Executive Director Deborah Havighorst. “Scholarships have become even more important for our students, with Illinois’ budget continuing to remain in flux,” she added. “The students need the community’s support now, more than ever.”

Reservations are still available. For more information, contact the PSC Foundation at 708-709-3631.
