WASHINGTON, DC –(ENEWSPF)–December 5, 2016.  The nation’s largest progressive veterans group, representing over 450,000 supporters, is reacting to the news that Donald Trump has appointed Ben Carson to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets.org said in a statement:

“Hundreds of thousands of veterans live in HUD-assisted housing.  So many more homeless veterans one day will find a home because of HUD.  To make their wellbeing subject to the gross unpreparedness of Ben Carson is a complete insult.  Ben Carson has absolutely no qualifications to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and his own spokesman said Carson admitted he does not have the skills to run a government agency. We will not stand idly by and watch so many veterans who depend on HUD be hurt by this joke of an appointment.  The Senate must uniformly, and swiftly reject this nomination, and ask the President-elect to put forth a serious candidate.”

Founded in 2006, and backed by over 450,000 supporters, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home.  VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans’ interests in their day-to-day lives.   VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world – with force when necessary – to protect America. While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
