WASHINGTON –(ENEWSPF)—February 28, 2017. VoteVets, the largest progressive group of veterans and military families in America, released the following statement, regarding Donald Trump’s address to Congress tonight.
In a statement, Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets said:
“Tonight, America will see a president and commander in chief walk into Congress with dark clouds surrounding him.
There has never been a president who, in his first address to Congress, was facing serious questions about his legitimacy. As Donald Trump walks into the well of the House tonight, he does so protected by a Republican party that is fighting tooth and nail to keep the truth about possible Russian influence over this White House from the American people.
As Donald Trump speaks to Congress, he does so with reports swirling that the White House, and Trump himself, may be lying to America when they say the botched Yemen raid yielded valuable intelligence. Further, just today, Trump tried to pawn the entire operation off to the Obama administration. The idea that the commander in chief is lying to America about results of a raid, and is dismissing his role as the person who green lit the mission, to excuse the death of a Navy SEAL is unconscionable. It must be investigated by Congress.
In short, there can be no moving on to the budget, to Obamacare, to anything else, until these serious – possibly criminal – acts, are fully investigated.
America needs answers, and needs them now.”
