New York, NY–(ENEWSPF)–June 28, 2012.  Yesterday the U.S. House and Senate announced a compromise on the surface transportation bill, which includes a provision to dedicate 80 percent of Clean Water Act penalties from the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster to Gulf Coast restoration.

“The RESTORE Act is a lifeline for the Gulf Coast.  It will create jobs, and it’ll restore the places wildlife need to thrive,” said David Yarnold, Audubon President and CEO.

“This is an act of hope and faith in America and we look forward to seeing the House and Senate step up on behalf of generations to come.”
