Sierra Club Releases Two Ads Exposing Pruitt’s Dirty History

Washington, DC –(ENEWSPF)–January 12, 2017.  Today, just ahead of the confirmation hearing for Donald Trump’s nominee for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Sierra Club released two hard-hitting ads revealing why Scott Pruitt’s history as a polluter ally makes him unfit to head the agency. The ads serve as a continuation of a previously launched digital ad campaign targeting senators in key states.

“Never has someone been put forward to run the Environmental Protection Agency who is as unfit and dangerous as Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “The American people deserve to know about Pruitt’s history of ignoring environmental concerns plaguing Oklahoma with reckless abandon, and his failure to act except to sue the agency he’s been tapped to lead.”

The first ad goes through the EPA’s vital roles and responsibilities in protecting American families every day and contrasts these to the damage Pruitt has done as Oklahoma Attorney General. The second ad examines the fracking-process caused earthquake epidemic that has plagued Oklahomans and Pruitt’s failure to act on their behalf.

“The American people cannot afford to have someone with a well-documented history of putting corporate polluter profits about our clean air and water lead the EPA,” Brune added. “We will continue to mobilize and hold our senators accountable, ensuring that the future of our climate and environment remains intact and safeguarded from Scott Pruitt and his fossil fuel supporters.”

The ads are set to run in 14 states and Washington, DC, encouraging Americans to contact their Senators and demand that they reject Scott Pruitt’s nomination. The targeted states are Colorado, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
