SEIU President: “Clinton Plan for Investments in Caregiving Economy Will Improve Lives for Caregivers and Those in Their Care”

Washington—(ENEWSPF)—November 23, 2015. Today, SEIU President Mary Kay Henry released the following statement in support of Hillary Clinton’s plan to address the care economy vital for America’s seniors and people with disabilities.

“Our nation’s home care providers make it possible for our seniors and those with disabilities to continue living at home with dignity and independence. In today’s economy these workers who feed, bathe and dress our loved ones don’t make enough to provide the basics for their own families.

“This summer Secretary Clinton met with SEIU home care providers, hearing firsthand the struggles they face to support their families while they provide life enhancing, compassionate care for others. She is committed to helping them raise their wages and join together in a union when she is in the White House.

“Clinton’s plan would help families have access to quality, affordable care at every stage of life, regardless of income or long term care needs. It shows she understands the value of the dedicated work these caregivers provide and the value of a robust well-trained caregiving workforce to boost our communities.

“Hillary Clinton’s commitment to America’s care economy is one more example of her commitment to fight, win, and deliver a better future for working families.”
