If you follow California House Rep. Ted Lieu on Twitter (Dem-CA), you are aware that he’s one of the most vocal, legally savvy, quick-witted and informative Congress members on social media today. He stays on top of the self-incriminating and ridiculous statements spewed out daily by the so-called “illegitimate” president. But Trump is not the only target of the former Air Force officer and prosecuting attorney. Congressman Lieu often goes after U.S. Attorney General (AG) Jeff Sessions, reminding Americans that Sessions lied under oath during his own confirmation hearing and violated his recusal from the Trump-Russian collusion investigation by drafting the letter used to fire former FBI Director James Comey.

In a letter to the Alabama State Bar (ABS), Rep. Lieu describes Sessions as committing “possible violations” of the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct. Being extensively experienced in state and federal law, Rep. Lieu seems to find it hard to stomach the fact that Sessions has yet to face any consequences for his unethical and allegedly unlawful conduct, especially as an attorney and member of the ASB.  And given that Rep. Lieu, in his tweets, often refers to the AG as the “Lying Jeff Sessions,” Rep. Lieu would not take such a leap without knowing good and well Sessions lied. Making false and defamatory accusations about another, especially in a high position, could be considered libelous. So it’s safe to say, Jeff Sessions is liar, it’s all on video for the public to see and it’s now on record with the Alabama State Bar.

Below is an excerpt from Ted Lieu’s letter to the ASB, via a press release from Rep. Lieu’s website—followed by a link to the entire letter.

REP. LIEU SENDS LETTER REGARDING CONDUCT OF ATTORNEY GENERAL SESSIONS TO ALABAMA STATE BAR

July 12, 2017

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) wrote to the Alabama State Bar (ASB) Office of General Counsel highlighting possible violations of the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct, which govern the behavior of all lawyers admitted to the ASB. The letter discusses Mr. Sessions’ possible violation of the terms of his recusal regarding any matters related to the 2016 campaigns, false statements under oath during his confirmation hearings, and possible conflict of interest violations. Specifically, Mr. Lieu cites Rules 1.11 (“Successive Government and Private Employment”), 3.3 (“Candor Towards the Tribunal”), and 8.4 (“Misconduct”).

In the letter, Mr. Lieu writes:

“As a Member of Congress serving on the Judiciary Committee, I believe respect for the rule of law and proper oversight of our judicial system are vital to a healthy democracy. Therefore, I would like to call your attention to several actions taken by Attorney General Sessions that appear to have violated Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct 1.11 (“Successive Government and Private Employment”), 3.3 (“Candor Towards the Tribunal”), and 8.4 (“Misconduct”).  I respectfully request this letter be included for the record in any potential existing or future investigation into Attorney General Sessions.”

“It is deeply disturbing that Mr. Comey’s firing – in which Mr. Sessions played a role by crafting a cover letter for Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein’s memo urging Mr. Comey’s firing – appears to have been based, in part, on Mr. Comey’s handling of the ongoing FBI investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections.”

FULL TEXT OF MR. LIEU’S LETTER

Ted Lieu’s entire letter is well worth the read and his official complaint to the ABS will forever remain on Sessions’ record. This is a good thing pending further investigations into the Russian probe, as well as a one more reflection upon the dishonest and allegedly corrupt actions of a U.S. Attorney General. Thank you, Congressman Lieu.
