RefuseFascism.org Co-Initiator Carl Dix Disrupts Sessions Confirmation Hearing

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–January 11, 2017.  Tuesday morning, RefuseFascism.org Co-Initiator Carl Dix and several other protesters disrupted Senator Sessions confirmation hearing and were removed in handcuffs.

Dix was dragged out chanting, “No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA.” Another RefuseFascism.org protester was dragged out saying: “We refuse to accept a fascist America. We have to be in the streets starting January 14 to stop the Trump/Pence fascist regime from coming to power.”

Afterward RefuseFascism.org issued the following statement:

“No Senate Hearing Can Make This Death-Penalty-Enforcing, Mass-Incarceration-Loving, Immigrant-Persecuting, Gay Rights-Hating, Anti-Woman, Anti-Gay, Anti-Muslim Fascist And Racist Legitimate.”

“RefuseFascism.org is in the streets of DC and we are calling on millions to join us, to #FloodDC. There must be non-stop massive protest to bring Washington DC to a halt to prevent the Trump-Pence Regime from assuming power.”

Refusefascism.org says Trump is “assembling a fascist regime of grave danger. The fascist character of the Trump/Pence regime renders it illegitimate and a peril to the future of humanity and the earth itself.”

BACKGROUND

Prominent scientists, actors, musicians, intellectuals, activists, religious leaders, and over 3,000 others, have called for massive protests and resistance to “Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts!” in a full-page signed ad on January 4 in the New York Times.

The declaration, “NO! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America” warns that Trump is “assembling a regime of grave danger” whose fascist character “renders it illegitimate and an immoral peril to the future of humanity and the earth itself.”

They state: “millions must rise up in a resistance with a deep determination such that we create a political crisis that prevents the Trump/Pence fascist regime from consolidating its hold on the governance of society.” To achieve that they call for “protests that don’t stop—where people refuse to leave, occupying public space, and more and more people stand up with conviction and courage.”
