Jacksonville, FL-(ENEWSPF)- The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is reporting a “mass shooting” at the Madden 19 Tournament at Jacksonville Landing, declaring there are “multiple fatalities at the scene.” Police urge everyone to “Stay far from the area. The area is not safe at this time.” This warning goes out to the media as well, saying, “It is for safety.”
Madden 19 is a video game tournament, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
The warnings came on the Jax Sheriff’s Office Twitter feed, @JSOPIO. The urgent pleas continued from police, “We can’t stress enough to stay away. Many blocks away.”
Police have declared a hashtag for those looking for more information on this tragedy: #TheLandingMassShooting.
The city’s Twitter feed says Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and Sheriff Williams are “in contact regarding the ongoing situation at the Landing. “Please follow @JSOPIO and all instructions from the Sheriff’s office regarding movement downtown. The mayor and Sheriff are expected to address media later today,” the city said in a tweet.
The Sheriff’s Office said there are “multiple fatalities at the scene,” and many have been transported.
