Chicago, IL–(ENEWSPF)–November 10, 2011. U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) released the following statement today in honor of Veterans Day:
“On Veterans Day, our country honors and pays respect to our nations’ veterans, who have faced hardship and danger to protect the security of our nation. At a time when we wait with great anticipation of the return of our troops and end to our military engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan, we also make sure to thank our veterans for their service in all wars, past and present.
We also must remain committed in ensuring that returning servicemen and woman come home to a country ready to welcome them back and do not face undeserved hardship finding a job, accessing adequate health care services and other resources to support their families. After serving their country, our country must be ready to serve them. Congress should truly honor our veterans by making needed resources and services available to returning troops and their families – their selfless sacrifice and courage deserve that much.
Happy Veterans Day.”
