DOD Identifies Three Army Casualties, August 5, 2011


Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–August 5, 2011.  The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  They died Aug. 3 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device.  They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, La.

Killed were:

Pfc. Cody G. Baker, 19, of Holton, Kan.

Pfc. Gil I. Morales Del Valle, 21, of Jacksonville, Fla.

The Department of Defense also announced today the death of a third soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Spc. Barun Rai, 24, of Silver Spring, Md., died Aug. 3 in Logar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover.  He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany.
