Attorney General Madigan: Kendall County Man Arrested, Charged with Child Pornography Possession

Chicago —(ENEWSPF)–December 8, 2015.  Attorney General Lisa Madigan today said a Yorkville man was charged with possessing child pornography as part of “Operation Glass House,” a statewide initiative to apprehend the most active offenders who download and trade child pornography online.

Henry Wojewski, 58, is charged with one count of possessing child pornography containing images of a minor under the age of 18, a Class 3 felony punishable by up to two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC); as well as seven counts of possessing child pornography containing images of a minor under the age of 13, a Class 2 felony punishable by up to three to seven years in the IDOC. He posted bond, which was set at $100,000. A date for his preliminary hearing will be set by the court.

“Child pornography is not a victimless crime,” Attorney General Madigan said. “Whenever an offender downloads or trades these horrific images, it perpetuates the sexual assault of children, causing further devastation to the victims. We will continue to be relentless in apprehending these offenders.”

Madigan’s investigators, with the assistance of the Yorkville Police Department and the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, conducted a search of a residence in the 500 block of Yellowstone Lane and arrested Wojewski after evidence of alleged child pornography was discovered. State’s Attorney Eric Weis’ office will prosecute the case.

“We will continue to prosecute these offenders to the fullest extent of the law, ” said Weis. “Our partnership with the Attorney General’s office has allowed us to take these offenders out of our communities, and we will continue working together to ensure that justice is served.”

“The Yorkville Police Department is committed to putting these offenders behind bars,” said Yorkville Police Deputy Chief Terry Klingel. “The support from the Attorney General’s investigators has made it possible for us to identify these offenders and stop them from further victimizing children.”

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This is the 77th arrest since Madigan launched “Operation Glass House” in August 2010 to investigate the most active child pornography traders in Illinois. In 2010, the first year of the initiative, Madigan’s investigations revealed a disturbing trend of offenders trading extremely violent videos of young children being raped. As a result, Madigan’s office has focused on apprehending offenders who are seen trading and watching extremely violent videos involving children, including infants and toddlers.

Madigan’s office, with a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, runs the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which investigates child exploitation crimes and trains law enforcement agencies. Since 2006, Madigan’s ICAC task force has been involved in 1,042 arrests of sexual predators. The task force has also provided Internet safety training and education to more than 484,157 parents, teachers and students and more than 19,382 law enforcement professionals.
