Police say it all began when an officer observed two suspicious vehicles parked in the parking lot of 300 Norwood Square at 12:18 AM on September 13, one a car, the other a semi-truck.

According to police, an officer activated his emergency lights and spoke with Jason Ayers about the white semi-truck he had just parked at Norwood Square. Police say Ayers told the officer he had been driving a semi-truck all day and was parking it there. As another officer arrived on the scene, police told Ayers he could not park his semi at its present location per a village ordinance forbidding the parking of a 2nd division vehicle in a residential area.

While the officer was explaining the ordinance, police say Ayers became highly agitated, using profanity towards both officers, alleging he was being harassed. Police allege that he told them, "This is f***ing harassment and you’re a f***ing dweeb. I’ll bet you got beat up in high school."  Police say he began walking towards the semi-truck and stated, "F*** you."

One of the officers advised Ayers that he was going to receive the parking citation and that if he parked his vehicle at this location in the future it would be towed. At this point, police say Ayers yelled, "I don’t give a f***, tow it." Police say he stopped and, with fists clenched, took a step toward the officers, stating, "I’m-a beat yo ass," and "I’ll kick your ass," according to police.

Jason Robert Ayers, 30, 329 Waldman St., Park Forest, was arrested on September 13 and charged with assault and resisting a peace officer.
