Park Forest Police Reports for May 2, 2012

A lawnmower and a glass jar containing gasoline were reported missing from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on April 21.

Brian D. Williams, 27, 45 McCarthy Rd., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with criminal destruction of property on April 21 after he allegedly threw a planter through the glass in a screen door. Police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

A door frame was reported broken in the 300 block of Waverly Street on April 21 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

A Dell laptop, $100 cash in various denominations, and five various credit cards were reported stolen on April 21 from a residence in the 300 block of Indianwood Boulevard when police were dispatched to investigate a report of residential burglary.

Police say a concrete block was thrown at a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Mantua Street on April 22. Police were dispatched to that block to investigate a report of criminal damage to a vehicle.

Nine catalytic converters were reported missing from a business in the 2200 block of Western Avenue on April 22 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of theft from a motor vehicle. The converters appeared to have been cut directly off the vehicles, according to police.

The rear window of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Lakewood Boulevard was reported broken out with a brick on April 22 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. The brick was in the back floorboard of the vehicle, according to police.

The large, circular brick was found on the back seat of the vehicle, according to police. Three other vehicles were reported damaged by bricks in the area.

One pane of a double-pane picture window was reported shattered in the first block of Lakewood Boulevard on April 22 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

A garage door, as well as the door frame of the said door, was reported damaged in the 400 block of Indianwood Boulevard on April 24 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of a possible intrusion.

Harassment by telephone was reported in the 100 block of Algonquin Street on April 23 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of threatening text messages being sent.

A wooden deck baluster and corrugated steel siding of a residence in the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive were reported damaged on April 23 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

A telephone threat was reported in the 100 block of North Orchard Drive on April 23 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of threatening phone calls.

Several fictitious “911” calls were reportedly sent from the 100 block of Washington Street on April 24 when police and fire were dispatched to the 100 block of Algonquin Street to investigate a report of a vehicle on fire. No such vehicle was found on either block. Police continue to investigate.

Two PlayStation 3 game consoles, an Xbox 360 game console, and two flat-screen televisions were reported missing from the 200 block of Farragut Street on April 24 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of residential burglary.

The rear window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Sycamore Drive was reported shattered on April 24 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with aggravated battery when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Hemlock Street on April 24 to investigate a report of minor flashing a gun in a threatening manner. The gun was later identified as an Airsoft gun, according to police.

A living room window of a residence in the 400 block of Sandburg Street was reported shattered on April 26 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property.

David Anderson, 49, 577 Homan Ave., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference of the reporting domestic violence on April 25 when police were dispatched to the 500 block of Homan to investigate a report of domestic violence.

Cedric W. Williams, 52, homeless, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to land, battery, and resisting a peace officer on April 26 when police were dispatched to the corner of 26th and Allegheny to investigate a report of a man lying in a ditch. Williams was intoxicated, according to police, and police transported him to a residence in the 2800 block of Western Avenue. The resident stated Williams has not lived there for some time and did not want him there. Williams was then taken to the police department to make other arrangements. He was released and warned not to go back to the residence. A patrol car was stationed in front of the residence when the resident came running out the front door saying Williams was allegedly knocking very loudly on the rear door and the resident was afraid he was going to break the door down, according to police. Police say the officer approached Williams and informed him he was being arrested on a charge of criminal trespass, at which time Williams jumped off the porch and allegedly punched the officer in the chest, according to police. He returned to beating on the door. Police say the officer then took hold of Williams again, and he again broke free, this time allegedly turning to the officer, saying “You want to box, let’s box. I’m gonna f### you up,” according to police. Police say the officer then pulled his police-issued Taser and administered it. Williams allegedly continued to resist and the Taser was administered two more times, according to police, before other units arrived and were able to successfully handcuff Williams and take him into custody.

Michael D. Rodriguez-Mendez, 21, 532 Deborah Ln., Lynwood, and Manuel Arevalo, 23, 194 Zurich Dr., Lynwood, were both arrested and charged with home invasion when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Nanti Street on April 26 to investigate a report of a home invasion in progress. According to police, one resident was walking out of her garage when she noticed three males entering her back door. She asked them what they were doing and they immediately grabbed her and brought her in the house where they duct taped her hands and legs. One of the suspects was holding a gun and another was holding a knife. Another resident who was home at the time heard the commotion and jumped out a bedroom window and ran down the street to a house with lights on and asked the resident to call 911. Police say within moments, the police arrived and three subjects ran from the back of the house. Police were able to arrest two of the subjects, according to police.

Several items were reported missing from a residence in the 400 block of Tamarack Street on April 26 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. Police continue to investigate.

A Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary Softail motorcycle, which had been reported stolen, was recovered in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on April 29 when officers were dispatched to investigate a disturbance. The motorcycle was reported to be fraudulently purchased in 2008, according to police. The motorcycle was impounded and police continue to investigate.

A port-a-potty located in the 200 block of Wilson Street was reported damaged and burnt to the ground on April 29 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of a fire.

A GT Shimano automatic shifting auto bike was reported missing from the 200 block of Monee Road on April 30 when police were dispatched to investigate a report of a stolen bicycle.
