Park Forest Police Reports for July 20, 2009


A Gateway laptop computer, a silver watch and a white gold chain were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Dunlap Road on July 9. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

Ishmal R. Spiller, 18, 300 Cedar Ridge Lane, Richton Park, was arrested on July 9 and charged with possession of cannabis when an officer patrolling in the area of Sauk Trail and Central Park Avenue observed that the vehicle Spiller was driving allegedly and allegedly had an expired registration. Spiller received citations charging uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended and expired registration.

Jose Nieto, 39, 3704 W. 212th Place, Matteson, was arrested on July 10 and charged with aggravated driving while license revoked, possession of crack cocaine, attempted obstructing justice, and processed on a warrant out of South Chicago Heights on a DUI charge. An officer on patrol in the area of 26th Street and Western Avenue observed that the vehicle Nieto was driving allegedly had no front registration plate.

A 42-inch Sony Brava television valued at $1800, an HP office computer valued at $1000 and $2000 cash were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Arcadia Street on July 10.

The driver’s door window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Peach Street was reported shattered on July 11.

Police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on July 11 to investigate a report of the lost firearm. A resident reported that in 1995 he resided in the 100 block of Park Street with his sister and mother. While residing there, he purchased a .38 caliber revolver. When he moved from the residence, he left the firearm with his mother and sister. He stated that they were unable to locate the firearm and that it may have mistakenly been thrown in the trash when the cabinet containing it was thrown away in January, 2008.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Apache Street regarding a report of battery. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

Larita T. Castle, 30, 1127 W. 127th Pl., Calumet Park, IL, was arrested on July 12 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Oswego Street to investigate a criminal damage to property complaint.

A 65-inch Mitsubishi flat-screen television valued at $1317 was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Arrowhead Street on July 12. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

A 37-inch LG HDTV, a 31-inch LG flat-tube TV, a 19-inch wide screen ViewSonic monitor, a Sony receiver, a PSP handheld game system, a Rich East High School class ring with “STEVE 2006” across the top, an RCA brand video camera, a Harley watch with bike chain wristband, earrings, a garage door opener, a .22 Ruger pistol, a 21-inch RCA flat-screen TV, a 32-inch Vizio plasma TV, a pink Microsoft Zune MP3 player, a set of Bose headphones, an Xbox 360 game system and three Xbox 360 video games were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Washington Court on July 13. Police continue to investigate.

The right rear tail light of a vehicle in the 100 block of Sycamore Street was reported damaged on July 14.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with discharge of an air gun when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Larue Street to investigate a report of a subject walking in the area with a handgun. Police recovered a clear plastic BB gun similar in style to a .45 caliber handgun.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Allegheny Street in reference to a report of a suspicious subject.

Steven H. Comer, 40, 206 Monee Rd., Park Forest, was arrested on July 15 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance.

Arthur C. Fox, 52, 1891 Andover St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on July 15 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a peace officer when an officer was dispatched to the area of Western Avenue and 26th Street in reference to a report of a suspicious person riding a bicycle northbound on Western Avenue pulling a lawnmower.

An engine compartment cover and a hydraulic tank cap were reportedly removed from a Vermeer Trencher, model number RT 1250, in the 100 block of Shabbona Dr. on July 16. Repair estimates are between $1500 and $2000.

Eddie Crooms, 53, 19912 Brook St., Lynwood, and Patricia A. Clarett, 53, 1124 Schilling Ave., Chicago Heights, were arrested on July 16 and charged with felony retail theft when police were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy, 1 Main Street, to investigate a report of retail theft.

An envelope containing a library card, drivers license, and approximately $20 cash was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the Park Forest Library parking lot on July 15. The driver related that while sitting in his vehicle he was approached by a subject from the passenger side who engaged him in conversation through the open passenger door window. When the suspect left, the driver was unable to find the envelope which he had placed on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

The passenger-side door window of a school bus parked at Park Forest Academy, 375 Oswego Street, was reported damaged on July 17.

The driver’s front door window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive was reported shattered on July 17.
