Park Forest Man Faces Felony Weapons Charges


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Hemlock Street on Friday, December 11, at 11:30 PM in reference to report of a domestic disturbance. Responding officers were informed that a male subject was in possession of a gun and had left a residence on foot. According to the complainant, the male subject had allegedly pointed the gun toward the complainant and the complainant heard it click as if it was being fired or cocked.

While searching the area, Corporal Sheets observed a male subject matching the description of the suspect on foot walking toward Court G-1. Corporal Sheets pursued the subject on foot. Additional units were requested from neighboring towns and a perimeter was set up to locate the suspect, according to police. Officer Kessler deployed his K-9 partner “Toby” from the east end of court G-6. K-9 Toby tracked behind CVS Pharmacy, alongside the fence behind Victory Center, where police discovered a male subject, identified as Rashad H. Williams, 17, 139 Hemlock St., Park Forest. While Williams was being taken into custody, Office Vallow located three live brass 9 mm hollow-point-style Luger rounds in Williams’ front right pants pocket, according to police.

Police located a Kal-Tech model P-11 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in the window well of a residence in the 3200 block of South Western Avenue.

According to police, Williams admitted to having an altercation with family members and said he was in possession of a pellet gun that he had discarded while running from police.

Assistant States Attorney Zecchin approved one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (No FOID) and one count of defacement of a firearm. Williams was processed and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with no FOID, possession of ammunition with no FOID, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and defacement of a firearm.
