18-year-old Man Shot Once By Police At Aqua Center (Video and Story)


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– An 18-year-old was shot once by a Police Officer after police say they saw him pull a handgun from his waistband last night at the Park Forest Aqua Center.

On Friday, 06/25/10, at approximately 10:41 p.m., Park Forest Police responded to the area of the Park Forest Aqua Center, 30 N. Orchard, to investigate a 911 call reporting a male subject with a handgun who was allegedly threatening people.

Upon arrival, a subject matching the given description was observed and confronted by uniform Police Officers. Police say they observed the subject pulling a handgun from his waistband. Police ordered the subject to drop the weapon, but he refused to comply, police said.

The subject was shot once and taken into custody. 

The handgun the offender had in his possession was recovered at the scene. The 18-year-old male suspect was treated by fire department paramedics and transported to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit responded to collect physical evidence.

Per Park Forest Police Department protocol, the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit has been called into investigate the Police Officer involved shooting.
