17-year-old In Critical Condition After Suffering A Gunshot Wound Sunday In Park Forest

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest Police issued a statement Monday afternoon regarding a shooting on Gibson Road Sunday. The 17-year-old victim is in critical condition.

The statement follows:

On Sunday, February 21, 2016 at approximately 4pm, Park Forest Police Officers and Paramedics responded to the 100 block of Gibson Rd. for the report of a person who had been shot. Responding officers found a 17 year old male juvenile who had sustained life-threatening injuries after suffering a gunshot wound while outside of his residence. Paramedics performed life-saving measures and the victim was rushed to the St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights Campus emergency room.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force responded and a joint investigation with the Park Forest Police Department was initiated. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was intentionally targeted, however the investigation is on-going. The victim remains in critical condition and will not be identified at this time. The Park Forest Police Department offers their thoughts and prayers to the victim of this senseless act of violence and to his family and friends.
