Herrin Resident Charged With Robbery of Marion Gas Station

Springfield, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The FBI reports that a Herrin resident was charged with the robbery of a Marion, Illinois gas station.

On May 8, 2018, Travis J. Taylor, of Herrin, Illinois, was charged by indictment with Interference with Commerce by Robbery, in violation of the Hobbs Act, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Donald S. Boyce, announced today. The charge stems from an April 25, 2018, robbery of the Valero Gas Station in Marion, Illinois (Williamson County).

On May 10, 2018, Mr. Taylor made his initial appearance in federal court. He was ordered held without bond pending trial, which is currently set for July 9, 2018.

Under the law, a defendant is presumed to be innocent of a charge until proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of a jury.

If convicted of the Hobbs Act violation, Mr. Taylor faces up to 20 years in prison.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Marion Police Department.
