Health officials in Texas and New Mexico reported over 200 confirmed measles cases. Two deaths, including a child, were attributed to the virus. That is the first such death in over a decade in the U.S. In addition, medical professionals identified a new case in Maryland. However, local health officials clarified that this case did not derive from the outbreak affecting the southern states.

With warmer weather and the spring break travel season on the horizon, Park Forest officials stress the importance of ensuring that all residents vaccinate against measles. Measles vaccinations are a vital step in protecting individual health and the community. This is particularly true for vulnerable populations such as infants and those with weakened immune systems.

Measles Vaccinations Are Critical

Park Forest officials urge residents to cooperate to protect the community from measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases by keeping their measles vaccinations up to date.
