Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Saturday the Village of Park Forest will honor veterans in a program that begins at noon in Freedom Hall. Beginning an hour before that, there will be a display of military vehicles on the lawn outside the iconic concert venue and theatre.

Village Manager Tom Mick, a Marine who is currently not deployed (said out of respect — there are no “former marines) spoke about Saturday’s upcoming program as part of his report to the Village Board Monday night.

“The Park Forest Veterans Commission Day program will take place this coming Saturday, November 10th beginning at Noon at Freedom Hall,” Mr. Mick said. “The program will celebrate and recognize those women and men who served in the US Armed Forces. Festivities will include a static display of military vehicles out on the lawn of Freedom Hall between 11 AM and Noon.”

Vehicles outside Freedom Hall will range from contemporary Humvees and 5-ton trucks to vehicles dating back to Vietnam, Korea and before, Mr. Mick said.

“At Noon, the program will begin in Manilow Theater with Army Colonel Nick Johnson providing insights on Veterans Day in addition to a musical performance by the 144th Army Band,” the manager said.

Residents with any questions about this program can contact Mr. Mick at Village Hall by calling 748-1129.
