Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Village Clerk Sheila McGann swore in three officers for the Park Forest Police Department at last Monday’s Village Board meeting. The officers come to the village via a lateral recruitment process, all having begun their careers in other police departments.

"They came from other police departments with several years of service," said Village Manager Tom Mick, "I think it’s a testament to our police department, our command staff and our staff, that we’ve got people from neighboring communities who are willing to leave their current place of employment and come work for the Village of Park Forest."

Officer David Habecker was sworn in first. Habecker comes to the Village of Park Forest Police Department from the Chicago Heights Police Department where he served as a patrol officer for three years, according to Tom Mick. "David received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Governors State University and an Associate’s Degree from Prairie State College. He graduated high school from Marian Catholic." Habecker’s father, a full-time Assistant Chief with the Village of Flossmoor Fire Department, pinned his badge on him after Village Clerk Shelia McGann performed the swearing in.

Sworn in next was Officer Paul Morache, a patrol officer with the South Holland Police Department for eight years.

"He attended Purdue, Calumet University, and South Suburban College where he majored in Criminal Justice," said Tom Mick. "He is a graduate of Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana." Morache is also a licensed EMT through Ingalls Hospital, according to Mick. "Paul is certified in several other areas including Field Training Officer, Range Officer, Breathalyzer Technician and is an Evidence Technician." Morache’s brother Tom is an officer with the Glenwood Police Department.

Officer Justin Rimovsky was sworn in last. "Justin began his full-time career with the Rockdale Police Department in April 2005. He has also been a part-time officer with the Merrionette [Park] Police Department since November of 2002."

Rimovsky finished first on the recent Lateral Recruitment Eligibility List, according to Mick. He attended Moraine Valley Community College where he majored in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of Marist High School.
