Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Among monarchs, 70 years is a Platinum Jubilee. For the Park Forest Police Department, 2019 marks 70 years of service. Wednesday, the department remembered its first call for service: a report a shattered window that occurred during a children’s baseball game.

Happy Platinum Jubilee to the PFPD!

“On this day 70 years ago,” a Park Forest resident called the Park Forest Police Department to report a shattered window that occurred during a children’s baseball game- as quintessential American as it gets. It was our very first call for service as a newly formed police department.”

“Throughout 2019 we are celebrating 70 years of service to the Village of Park Forest, but today, October 2nd, well, we consider today to be our birthday,” the PFPD said.

“So to everyone who has served with the Park Forest Police Department over the past 70 years, thank you for your contribution to this great organization dedicated to keeping Park Foresters safe. And to anyone who has lived, worked, or played under our protection since that first baseball through a window in the early fall of 1949, thank you for trusting the men and women of the Park Forest Police Department to protect and serve you,” the PFPD said.
