Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)–July 17, 2013 – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on Republicans continuing to obstruct Obamacare:
“After throwing up roadblock after roadblock after roadblock to Obamacare, Republicans are now trying to delay access to care for millions of Americans on the grounds that we’re not ready. Despite Republican obstructionism, we will be ready to go on January 1st – and not a day too soon.
“The latest estimate is that 129 million Americans have a pre-existing condition today – the rest of us could have one tomorrow. For women 62% of individual policies don’t cover maternity care and women are routinely charged more for the same coverage than men. Come January 1, those days will be over.
“This is just another Republican attempted roadblock to progress. It’s time for Republicans to stop wasting our time and taxpayers’ money on these efforts to prevent Americans from getting the health care they need.”
