Startled Prowler Flees When Discovered

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— A resident startled a hooded prowler in his home in the early morning hours last Thursday. One shout was all it took to convince the intruder to run.

Officers were called to a residence in the 3300 block of Western on August 30 to investigate a report of a suspicious subject.  A resident reported that at approximately 1:00 a.m. he woke from his sleep to go to the wash room and observed a black male subject inside his house.  The subject was standing at the front door facing the resident in a crouched position while holding the screen door open with his right hand.  The resident reported that he yelled out, “Hey!” and the subject ran out of the house and fled southbound towards Indianwood.

Officers checked the area for the suspect with negative results.

The subject was described as approximately 6’0” tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants.  The window screen on the east side of the residence was cut open in the shape of an upside down, “T.”  It appeared the subject cut the screen and entered through the side window.  An officer observed a Ginsu knife outside the window in the grass.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 708-748-4700.
