SD 163 Board to Consider Personnel for 2008-2009

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Board of Education of School District 163 is expected to hire several new teachers and rehire others when it meets on Monday, June 2.

The board will also accept the retirement of Denise Faris, Public Information Representative and Board Secretary, effective the end of the 2007-2008 school year, and the resignation of Christine Neander, a sixth grade Math and Science teacher at Forest Trail Middle Grade Center.

Scheduled meetings include the Fincance Committee beginning at 7:00 p.m., and a Regular Session starting at 8:00 p.m. The board will meet at the District Office, 242 South Orchard Drive, Park Forest.

The following are expected to be hired by the board for the 2008-2009 school year: Leslie Simms as the District Librarian, Katrina Copeland as a primary gifted teacher, Demetrease Thompson as a Primary Reading Specialist, Daniel Rosolowski As a P.E. teacher at Forest Trail Jr. High Grade Center, Brandi McCue as a P.E. Teacher at Forest Trail Jr. High Grade Center, Erika Johnson as a Reading Specialist/Interventionist at Mohawk Intermediate Center.

Courtney Regan will be transferrred from a Media/Technology Assistant at 21st Century Preparatory Center to a Certified Media Literacy Teacher at 21st Century Preparatory Center for the 2008-2009 school year.

Ten teachers will be rehired for the 2008-2009 school year. These include Kimberly Gaitor as a fifth grade teacher at Blackhawk Intermediate Center, Lynn Gorcowski as a Fourth Grade Teacher at Blackhawk Intermediate Center, Yolanda Ellis as a Media/Technology Assistant at Beacon Hill Primary Center, Courtney Moore-Houston as a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Algonquin Primary Center, Felishia Keys as a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Forest Trail Jr. High Grade Center, Shatondra Sams as a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Forest Trail Jr. High Grade Center, Mary Maclagan as a Special Education Teacher Assistant at Algonquin Primary Center, Jennifer O’Brien as a Media/Technology Assistant at Mohawk Intermediate Center, Cara Aljoe as a 1:1 Special Education Teacher Assistant at Algonquin Primary Center, and Sara Bednarcik as a Special Education Kindergarten Transition Teacher Assistant at Beacon Hill Primary Center.

Joe Kaczanowski, Dr. Robert Rubenow, and Jim Bartley will be appointed as the District Hearing Officers for the 2008-2009 school year, per the recommendation of the Superintendent, Dr. Joyce Carmine. Dr. Mary K. Molfese will be appointed Director of Special Student Services, as the District Homeless Liaison for the 2008-2009.

Ericka Patterson will be appointed Principal of Beacon Hill Primary Center, and James Leib, Co-Principal of Algonquin Primary Center, as the District Harassment Officers for the 2008-2009 school year.

The board is also expected to approve the expansion of the Summer School Enrichment Program for an additional cost of $21,600, and approve the publication of bid specifications for asphalt repairs at 21st Century, Beacon Hill and Blackhawk Schools, as well as bid specifications for sidewalk repairs at Beacon Hill, Blackhawk, Forest Trail and Mohawk Schools.
