Thursday February 9: ‘Academics United’ Rally at Northwestern University

Evanston, IL—(ENEWSPF)—February 8, 2017. Northwestern University students and faculty, Mayor Tisdahl and four of the five Evanston mayoral candidates, and Ed Yohnka, Director of Communications and Public Policy, ACLU of Illinois will rally in opposition to the Trump’s Executive Order on travel and immigration and in support of our community members directly affected by the ban. The rally has been organized by the Iranian Students Association and 19 student organizations in solidarity with over 50 universities nationwide.

The rally will begin On Thursday, February 9 at 12 p.m. outside University Hall, 1897 Sheridan Road and march at 12:45 p.m. to the West Courtyard of the Technological Institute, 2145 Sheridan Road where there will be an address by Mayor Tisdahl. At 1 p.m. Ed Yohnka, Director of Communications and Public Policy, ACLU of Illinois will speak.

This ban directly affects more than 50 Northwestern University community members and threatens Northwestern’s core values of diversity and inclusion and the University’s position as a leader in global engagement and collaboration.
