Richton Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Southland College Prep Charter High School’s Speech team continues to place well in this season’s early varsity and novice speech tournaments.
In the Marian Classic tournament at Marian Catholic High School, Saturday, November 9, Southland’s varsity team took first place in two events.
Savannah Taffee was the champion in Radio Speaking and Nyah Ware placed first in Impromptu Speaking and also took third place in Special Occasion Speaking.
In other events, Carey Gidron placed fourth in Oratorical Declamation and Bri’yon Watts was a finalist in Poetry Reading.
On the same day at the Downers Grove South High School Novice Invitational, Josh Tisdale placed first in Humorous Interpretation.
Hailey Ivy was the runner-up in Poetry Reading; Kylie Hughes placed 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking, and three Southland novice team members took fifth place in several events: Ayanna Anderson, Dramatic Interpretation; Gabriella Alicea, Radio Speaking; and Lela Ellis, in Prose Reading.
