CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–September 18, 2014. Abby Kahaleh, a founding faculty member in Roosevelt University’s College of Pharmacy (COP) has received the 2014 Shining Star Award from the Illinois Council of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ICHP).
An associate professor of administrative sciences, Kahaleh started a local ICHP chapter at COP with the help of Roosevelt pharmacy students in 2011. The Schaumburg, Ill. resident has been a leader in lobbying state lawmakers on current pharmacy issues, taking a team of students once a year to Springfield to advocate on behalf of pharmacists with area legislators.
The Roosevelt professor also was recently selected as an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) American Academic Leadership Fellow. She is one of only 30 AACP fellows in the nation, and has been doing strategic planning for COP as a fellow.
Kahaleh received ICHP’s Shining Star Award for going beyond the call of duty on Sept. 13 during the annual ICHP annual meeting held in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. During the meeting, Kahaleh made a presentation to 250 PharmD students from pharmacy schools all over Illinois, coaching them on how best to prepare for the coming competitive residency application process.
