CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–October 7, 2014. Guadalupe Cotto, a Master of Science in Accounting student in Roosevelt University’s Heller College of Business, has been awarded a national merit-based scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in Washington, D.C.
A 2014 graduate of Roosevelt’s Bachelor of Science in Accounting program and a graduate assistant in the Heller College, Cotto is the first Roosevelt student ever to receive the prestigious $10,000 PCAOB scholarship, and is one of 102 accounting students from around the nation to be awarded scholarships by PCAOB award for 2014-15.
“I’m humbled and honored to receive this award,” said Cotto, who has been active with the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, is co-president of Roosevelt’s Accounting Club and also is the Becker Campus Ambassador, working with other students at Roosevelt as they prepare for their Certified Public Accounting exams.
Cotto will graduate in December 2015. She has a goal as an accounting student and as a professional to help other women and minority students achieve success in the field. The mother of three, she is a resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood.
