Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Rich East Flags and Baton Twirlers competed in 2011 U.S.T.A. (United States Twirling Association) state competition at Hille Middle School in Oak Forest Last week and came away with many top honors.
The Rocket Baton Twirlers placed first and the Flag Team placed second at the state meet. The winning baton twirling team members are: Khiana Boone,Ashley Hood, Charlescia Teemer, Ashante Vaughn.
The second-place winning flag team members are: Andria Bates, Khiana Boone, Khiara Boone, Cathern Brown, Monaiye Buchanan, Deanna Eaton, Sade Gant, Franetta Fisher-Hayden, Ashley Hood, Taniqua Larry, Myranda Martin, Charlescia Teemer, Cix Triplett, Tyresha Smith, Ashante Vaughn and Brandi Wilson.
Other Rocket placers were: Franetta Fisher-Hayden who also finished third in the Basic Box Military Beginning Senior and Military "L" competition and Sade Gant, who was eighth in beginning baton twirling solo.
"It was a great competition and the girls did great and represented Rich East well," said Dwayne Sanders, Rich East director of bands.
