Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The 2010 Cross Country season came to an end for Rich East Saturday but not without a pair of good runs at the Class 2A Nazareth Academy Sectional meet at Niles West High School. The Rockets’ Dorian Simmons placed 55th, with a time of 18:00.07 and Janiah Jones was 63rd (21:51.06).
The Boys race winner was Oscar Medina of Lakeview (15:58.56) and Eryn Fallon (Guerin) won the girls race (18:20.04). The latter two qualified for the Class 2A State Meet Saturday in Peoria. Rich South’s Tim Skonicki also quialified for state with an 18th-place overall finish (16:59.59). Teamwise, Illiana Christian was the Sectional Team champion.
The Knights also won last week’s regional meet in Lansing.
Host Nazareth Academy was the girls team champion. Also qualifying asĀ a team for the boys was Chicago-Jones, Oak Forest, Tinley Park and Kenwood Academy. Other girls teams qualifying for the state meet were: Hillcrest, Illiana Christian, Riverside-Brookfield and Lemont. Rich South’s Deasia Garrett was 51st (21:31.36). Both the Rich South boys and girls teams placed 11th. Rich Cen tral’s John Johnson also placed in the top 60.More thanĀ 140 boys and 130 girls competed in the race.
